Liz Taylor's Pride

In a conversation with a friend of mine about eyebrow stubble, she said that to her (and from an artists point of view) natural eyebrows "add composition to the face."  Ever since she said that I decided to stop plucking mine and since then a few things dawned on me.  They don't have to match my pink hair, they don't have to be a more desirable or expressive shape, they don't have to look exactly alike.  And with that I no longer have to worry obsessively that my whole face looks unkempt and imperfect with natural brows, cause it is, they are.. and it will be.  In the name of Liz, Amen.

  1. Rock on! I've almost always gone natural with my brows, only waxed a couple of times and threaded a few more (I prefer threading). I'm done plucking and all of that. So happy to hear you're trying the natural route, too! <3

  2. Oh, eyebrows. I messed up (well, I paid someone else to mess up) my eyebrows the day before senior prom, and they've grown in funny ever since. Boohiss.

  4. A few months ago, I grew mine out for the first time in about 10 years. Then they started annoying me so I got an eyebrow wax, which resulted in uneven brows that were far too thin. I've learnt my lesson.

My brows are naturally sparse and I'm so jealous of people with beautiful thick brows.

  5. I've never been able to pluck mine- the pain actually does bother me. ^_^ I love my eyebrows.

  6. Kudos to you. I love natural eyebrows. I've never waxed mine, I only clean up around them and love them. Taking care of them and obsessing over them seems so exhausting.

  7. I, too, enjoy an unshaped brow! I used to get sugared (and threaded when I lived near a place), but was never that into doing it regularly. Then, I just stopped. I always liked my brows just fine the way they were.

My mustache is another matter, I'm not quite okay with just letting it grow naturally.

  8. I've heard so many stories of friends that have had the experience where they "went once, never went again.." because of painful, uneven and folicle trauma experiences. Rebecca, I feel you. I don't have a moustache that bugs but my beard is another story.

  9. When I was about 19, I shaved my eyebrows off completely, and I had to draw on my eyebrows for a couple of years. I would wipe them off or smear them occasionally, so I was always going around asking, "Do I still have eyebrows?". Nowadays, I just shave/trim to shape them. I learned how to do that in Beauty School (which I dropped out of making me a real life Beauty School Drop-Out) and I'm pretty good at it. So, I'm kinda attached to the way I do them :) I usally swipe a little mascara on them when I go out, too. By the way, I heart Liz Taylor, I'm always looking for "bee stung" look lipstick :)

  10. I went natural (except for one instance when I was 16) with the caterpillars until I was in my mid twenties. I was dating a girl who obsessed about hers, and so I got mine done with her. The first time was not so bad, so I went back and they burned me with the wax, then ripped skin off of my face!! I plucked for a year or two after that, but for the most part I just let them go. I'm glad that someone I admire has taken the same route!

  11. I watched this tutorial on the Tweezerman website where the stylist said eyebrows are "sisters, not twins," and that changed my whole view. I used to obsess over the fact that one of my brows didn't grow the same as the other and thus they'd never look "right."
